Tezzans Pride
6/3/1984-12/3/2008

Lisa Doherty writes:

You soar above me,
on silver wings you fly.
With a million white horses,
against the blue sky.
Look up to Heaven,
you'll see him above.
The Pride that I lost,
the Pride that I loved.

We have crossed green pastures,
we've waded clear streams.
We have tried to reach the stars.
You have given me so much.
You have taught me joy.
You, my friend, are beauty, grace and love.... all in one.

Commander N Chief
"Tut"

It has taken me a month to be able to announce the loss of my 26 yr old Arabian gelding Commander N Chief ,"Tut" . I found him at morning feeding already passed in the pasture with no apparent stress. He is pictured here with his driving mate Shades of Grey "Shady". Tut and I did so many things together from trail riding, Dressage lessons, pleasure trail driving as well as Combined Driving Events as both a single and as a pair with Shady. With his short coupling, he was oh so agile for working cows in penning and sorting and his wonderful manners made him our choice for guests to ride. As he was my first Arab love so many years ago and now my first loss, it was indeed hard to finally remove his feed bucket and take the pair pole off of the carriage and put the single horse shafts on.
He is missed. - Deborah Cole

He lived a Cinderella Story

You will live on in our hearts and in the lessons you taught forever.
May you be at peace our beloved steed as you run green pastures forever.

Briana Boggs with her blue ribbon she and Lucky won! Proud Dale at their side.

The club was fortunate to have Lucky attend our Spring horse show. He was awesome in every respect. A true Champion! Little did he know or those who loved him that it would be his last "HURRAH". We as a club were honored to have this wonderful horse at our show. I know he smiles down on all of us who loved him but is happily romping in greener pastures along with all of his friends who left before him. - Nancy
Lucky was a carriage horse in St. Augustine and retired at the end of 2005 due to his lame issue. He was bought and then abandoned at a boarding facility. From there he was rescued by Habitat for Horses and adopted by Chris and Dale Dunn who are both very active and involved in HfH. They gave Lucky the most loving and wonderful of homes. A true Cinderella story!

*Vaduz
March 20, 1979 – April 11, 2007

                                By Owner, Rebecca Williams

It is with profound sadness that I tell you that my beautiful boy *Vaduz passed away. I found him this morning after a very short search because he wasn’t in the barn for breakfast.
The last time I saw him Tuesday evening was actually where I found him this morning. I was giving out apple slices and he came up from the pasture to get his fair share. He dropped the last one I tried to feed him and I watched his nimble lips pick it up off the ground before I could get it for him. I patted him on his beautiful butt as I walked away. Oh, if I’d only known …
Never again will I see him bow as I pour his food into his dish, or watch with speechless awe as he runs with incredible grace or prances with his neck arched and his tail held high. He took my breath away.

He was with me for seven months and eleven days and every single one was a gift and a pleasure. I don’t know why he died I just pray to God it wasn’t anything I did. It didn’t look like he struggled as there were no marks on the ground where he lay. He seemed to be in perfect health and about the only thing out of the ordinary was a recent surge in energy. I attributed the change to the Easter weekend cold spell.

I am so happy to have known him but I envy those souls in Heaven today.

Spot was a familiar site at so many of our horse shows. We watched he and Kalani as she was growing up from a little girl into a young lady. Michael showed Spot also as a youngster. He was truly the Aponte's family horse as all including Barbara took turns in the show ring with him. He also attended the Region XII Youth Jamboree all summers. Here we watched he and Kalani sail over the jumps both in practice and in competition. You never knew what kind of an outfit Kalani would come up with for the Friday night costume fun class but Spot always co-operated and wore what ever it was that Kalani put on him.

Barbara had said he was so miserable here that it was time to say goodbye. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. And I know the Aponte family will also miss this "special one" of their family. He's gone over Rainbow bridge and met many of his former friends who have gone before him. There he'll wait until he and his "family" are all re-united. ..........Nancy

OK April Follie AKA Surprise
4/1/74 - 8/30/00
Surprise was put to sleep due to old age complications. Surprise was a
Raffon grandson who competed in showmanship, halter, country, hunter,
western, reining, costume, dressage, jumping, parades and pony rides.
He carried many many kids to their first ribbons, usually blue! He was
an outstanding representative of the Arabian breed.

Jewel passed away March 31st, under surgery for Cancer. The veterinarians at Gainesville were not able to save her, but, they did save her unborn foal, Romeo. By sheer miracle, Jewel was full term with Romeo at the time of her death and he survived. She was so sensitive and sweet, she'll always be remembered.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...
