I have been showing horses since
1963. I started out with hunter/jumper, then Quarter Horses, then barrel
racing for a while. My barrel horse also did trail and was undefeated
in SC until a little gray Arab from Charleston started coming to the shows
and beating us. My Dad and I had never seen an Arab before and like what
we saw, and promptly bought an Half Arab that I showed 4-H in reining.
He was 16th at the National Youth Horse Congress in Dallas, TX out of
185 Quarter Horses in reining.. Got a purebred Saddleseat horse after
that. Since we've been in Fl, haven't had a horse out of the Top Five
in Trail at Regions 12 & 14. Our home trained Spot has 28 Regional
titles in the 12 years we have owned him. Best accomplishments are my
children, Kalani, who has excelled in the the the hunter jumper division
and is Kalani is on the St. Augustine High football team dance squad,
and Mike, who is now a trainer in California.
I was on my 4-H horse judging team, can't remember that far back how we did, also took Reserve Champion at Youth Nationals in Horse Judging. I've been judging trail classes a couple of years now, really love it, because I have time to speak to each contestant about things they can improve on. |
